Staying Healthy While Fighting Infection With A C Diff Diet

 

C difficile is an infection that is caused by bacteria that are passed through feces. The infection can be spread to food, surfaces and objects from people who are infected with the bacteria by hands not being washed properly. Foods to Avoid

  • Avoid greasy food as it is difficult to digest.
  • Avoid milk because of the possibility of lactose intolerance.
  • Gassy foods such as cabbage, onions, beans and broccoli should be avoided.
  • Avoid caffeine and other spicy foods. Spices can be irritating to the intestinal system. Caffeine pulls water into the intestine, which is not what you want when fighting this type of infection.

Battling C Diff with a C Diff Diet

The definition of a Clostridium difficile infection that is also known as C diff is a gram-positive bacterium.  This particular bacterium affects the intestines of many patients who have received long-term antibiotic treatments. The bacterium is known to cause mild to severe diarrhea that can last several days. In some cases a C diff infection can even lead to death.

The treatment for this infection is believe it or not antibiotics and a diet known as a Clostridium difficile Diet or the C-diff diet.
